Reminder - Our Class Assembly

Our class assembly will take place this Friday 28th October in our classroom after the whole school assembly outside. All parents are welcome.

Spellings - revise every night (must, stuck, giraffe, stage, giant, magic, bridge, danger, fraction, estimate) extra spellings - vegetable, orange, gem, large 

Read, discuss, understand and use words - pumpkin, costume, spooky, skeleton, cauldron

Sentences- put 10 spellings into 'super sentences' in the homework copy by Friday 

English sheets (adjectives) - finish for Friday

Reading will be given on Wednesday and Thursday 

Tables Champion - please complete every night

Maths worksheets (fractions) - finish for Friday 

Gaeilge spellings - bainne (milk) tine (fire) te (hot)

Collecting Data

Traffic Tally
We were learning to interpret, collect and represent data last week. Here we are collecting data based on the traffic passing our school. We then made excellent pictograms using the data we had collected.

Spellings - revise every night (fist, best, fancy, prince, ice, dance, city, pencil, child, children) extra spellings - science, lace, cylinder, circle 

(I have given children a sheet to help them revise their spellings by writing out the words. They do not have to use this sheet but it might be useful for some children.)

Read, discuss, understand and use words - prefab, site, construction, building, location

Sentences - put 10 spellings into 'super sentences' in the homework copy by Friday (please make sure page is ruled with red pen and ruler, date and title are written at the top of the page and numbers are written in the margin)

English sheets - capital letters and plurals (finish for Friday)

Reading - read the piece of reading with your child and ask them the questions to ensure they have understood what they read **NB** I have given some children books to read for homework. They should do 5-10 minutes of reading each night and I will change the book when they've finished. 

Tables Champion - please complete every night

Maths worksheets - data (finish for Friday)

Tables - +7 tables 

Gaeilge spellings - cóta (coat) lón (lunch) bróg (shoe)

Children might have some extra reading from literacy 'power hour'

Obair Bhaile 10/10/16

Our class won best listeners at assembly on Friday! Congratulations to everyone in the class. Our prize is a night off written homework so tonight's homework is just learning spellings and tables and doing reading. 

Here's the homework for the rest of the week

Spellings - revise every night (glad, plum, read, head, death, leather, breakfast, heavy, woman, women) extra spellings - deaf treasure, weather, breath

Read, discuss, understand and use words - staff, principal, caretaker, role, responsibility

Sentences - 6 spellings must be put into 'super' sentences in the homework copy for Friday 

English sheet - capital letters and full stops sheet (Finish for Friday)

Green Genie - A House for Shade p. 12 
Answer questions (A) in homework copy using full sentences and (B) and (C) in the book

Maths worksheets- subtraction  (I have given the children a copy of the rhyme we use when doing subtraction with regrouping to help them) I have drawn a line on some sheets to show you where to stop.

Howth Trip

Trip to Howth

Hi all, 

Just a quick reminder about our trip to Howth tomorrow. Please remember to pack a rain jacket, some extra water and snacks and one treat (optional). Children will get their Glanmore lunches tomorrow before we go. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Spellings - revise every night (ark, clever, phone, sphere, elephant, dolphin, photo, alphabet, mouse, mice) **NB** some children have extra spellings as part of our differentiated spelling programme (paragraph, nephew, phobia, graph) 

Read, discuss, understand and use words (headland, lighthouse, harbour, cliff, Ireland's Eye)

Sentences - each spelling must be put into a 'super' sentence in the homework copy by Friday. You can decide how to divide up the sentences every night. If children have more than 10 spellings they just pick 10 spellings to put into sentences. 

English sheet - speech marks finish for Friday 

Reading - each child will receive a reading comprehension every day in school. Please read this with your child and ask them the questions.It will be changed the next day. 

Tables Champion - there is a section for each night. Please do this each night so we can correct it in school the next morning. 

Maths worksheet (measuring) - finish for Friday 

Tables - learn +5 tables for Friday 

Gaeilge spellings - cos (leg) gorm (blue) ocht (eight) 

Children might have some extra reading from our literacy "power hour".
